Part four · the record
Twelve questions, each answered from a named page
The things people ask before a first order, with the answer and where it comes from. Questions frequently asked in community threads are answered here the same way: from what Tomebuy has published, with the contradictions left visible.
Before and during a first order
Does Tomebuy charge a service fee on what I buy?
No. Its fee page promises a free agent service: beyond the item cost and shipping, no handling fee is required. You pay the goods, the seller's postage inside China, international freight, a parcel charge of about RMB 8, anything optional you ask for, and any duty your country charges.
How long can goods sit in the warehouse before I have to ship them?
Officially sixty, ninety or one hundred and eighty days, depending on which Tomebuy page you read. Plan around sixty. Parcels that arrive with no matching order are destroyed after sixty days from being signed for, and that figure is consistent everywhere.
How many quality control photos do I get?
Three to five per order according to the home page and the Tutorial, five to seven according to a second official guide. More angles can be bought from the orders page, including the one worth paying for: a tape laid across the garment.
Can I return something after the warehouse photographs it?
Within five days of the goods being stored, and only if the seller agrees. The item must be unused with tags and packaging intact. Where there is no fault you pay postage both ways plus a 0.75 USD service fee, and the refund lands in your account balance.
Which marketplaces can Tomebuy buy from?
Taobao, Tmall, 1688 and Weidian by link. For other platforms, including resale and social-selling sites, you fill in a hand-filled order with the name, link, specification and a photograph.
Why did my shipping price change after I paid it?
Freight is first charged on the weight recorded when the goods were shelved, then recalculated on the finished parcel with its box and padding. Overpayments go back to your balance and shortfalls come out of it, which is why the balance is worth keeping topped up.
Will the inspection tell me whether something is genuine?
No. Appearance is the whole scope, and a question on the Tomebuy home page says outright that authenticity carries no guarantee. Separately, its anti-counterfeiting policy prohibits buying counterfeit goods through the site and allows orders to be refused.
Is there a shipping calculator I can use before ordering?
Not a public one. Tomebuy quotes routes inside the account once goods are in the warehouse. The route figures exposed in its public site data look like demonstration values, so this edition describes how freight is calculated rather than printing prices.
What happens if customs charges me duty?
The recipient pays. Tomebuy's customs page says inspections are unpredictable and that any duty, fine or returned parcel is the recipient's responsibility. For purchases it can supply a screenshot of the payment record if proof is needed, but not a formal invoice.
Where is Tomebuy based?
The contact and privacy pages name WOCHEE Global Trading Co., Limited, a Hong Kong company registered under number 79081063. The site settings also carry a mainland address and a map pin in a third location, which is listed in our errata.
Is my parcel insured?
Not by default against transit loss. Tomebuy states it is not responsible for loss or damage by third-party carriers but will help you claim, and it lists cases it will not support at all. Loss inside its own warehouse is compensated: at the price paid for purchases, capped at RMB 5,000 per forwarding order for forwarded goods.
How do I get coupons?
Tomebuy's help centre says shipping coupons come from occasional site activities and from entering an invitation code when you register, without publishing what any of them are worth. There is also a reward for posting a review video, claimed through the reward section.
Four questions nobody can answer yet
An honest list of what this edition cannot tell you, with the reason in each case.
- What will freight cost to my country? No public rate table exists and the route data the site exposes looks like demonstration values. The quote appears in your account when the goods are weighed.
- What is a new-user coupon worth? Coupons are mentioned in the help centre and no figure is ever attached to them.
- What do extra photographs cost? The service is described publicly; its price is shown inside the account.
- How reliable is the service over time? There is no body of independent user reports to draw on, and the policy pages date only from January 2026.
If you have the answer to any of these from your own account, send it over with a screenshot and it will go into the next edition, credited as a reader's report.
